As time passes, Vanraj, Leela, Paritosh, and Kavya slander Anupamaa for her growing friendship with Anuj. Tired of all taunts and accusations she leaves the house and Samar also follows her. They start living in a rented house. Kavya deceitfully makes Anupamaa, Dolly and Vanraj sign the property papers in her name. Anuj confesses his unrequited love for Anupamaa after getting  bothered by some family members' slandering her,  ignorant of the fact that Anupamaa overheard his confession. Initially shattered, Samar and Gopichandra convince them to continue their relationship as friends. But Leela crosses her limits by brutally humiliating Hasmukh in front of the whole family and he leaves the house. While trying to bring him back, Vanraj asks Kavya to leave Shah's house with him and in a fit of rage, she reveals about tricking everyone by  subscribing property papers in her name. 

This makes Vanraj revengeful and on the day of Hasmukh and Leela's golden jubilee anniversary celebration, he handovers divorce papers to her shocking everyone but she refuses to divorce him and returns back property to Hasmukh's name. Later Anuj meets with an accident while fighting some goons and Anupamaa starts realizing her feelings for him. While Samar proposes to Nandini for marriage, Vanraj signs a business partnership" Vanika Teamworks" with a girl named Malvika. But she turns out to be Anuj's younger sister and it's revealed that Anuj is an adopted child of Kapadias which makes Vanraj plot to steal his whole Kapadia Empire through Malvika. As time passes, it's revealed that Anuj's parents died in a road accident due to his mistake and in his attempt to save Malvika from her gold- digger boyfriend Akshay, he'd her  wedded but the man beat her, causing her depression. Kavya leaves after an instigation against Samar, Anupamaa and Shahs in Nandini's mind which leads to a major argument of her with Samar fuelled by Vanraj which even leads Nandini to question Samar's character and his love and loyalty towards her  therefore making him furious for not trusting his love. But they clear their misunderstandings after Kavya returns and Anupamaa appoints her in Anuj's company to monitor Vanraj so that he does not use Malvika for his own selfish needs. Vanraj manipulates Malvika against Anuj leading Anuj to transfer the whole Kapadia Empire under her name and he decides to start a new chapter with Anupamaa by working over her dance academy.  On the night of Valentine's Day while Anupamaa proposes to Anuj, Nandini leaves Samar due to her insecurities regarding marriage and returns back to the USA. This leaves him  agonized and he vows to never believe in love again and decides to focus on his dance career and dance academy for his mother. Later Shahs prepare to celebrate Anupamaa's forty- fifth birthday and Kinjal reveals her pregnancy making everyone happy. But Paritosh refuses to be responsible for the baby and calls her a bad omen ultimately facing the wrath of the whole family and Samar takes the fatherly responsibilities of the child. Soon Anupamaa announces her decision to marry Anuj much to Vanraj, Leela, Kavya, Paritosh, Pakhi, and Rakhi's dismay. As the marriage rituals start, Malvika fires Vanraj, Kavya, and Paritosh for unprofessionalism and Samar convinces Pakhi and Paritosh to attend Anupamaa's wedding wholeheartedly and Kavya also joins team Anupamaa. As the wedding approaches Hasmukh is diagnosed with heart disease and decides to delay the surgery till marriage and it's intimately revealed. He promises to take care of himself and Vanraj's ego is hurt by Samar, Pakhi, and Paritosh's growing affection for Anuj. Anuj promises to remain a father figure and friend to them only till the time Vanraj will not come between Anupamaa and her children. Malvika leaves back to the USA for some legal issues and Anuj asks Anupamaa's children to call him their" Anuj Buddy". latterly Anupamaa promises that no one can come between a  mama  and her children and takes a promise in return to understand her. latterly Leela also joins the wedding wholeheartedly and Anupamaa and Anuj marry in a grand way. latterly Anuj transfers the signing authority of Kapadia Empire to Anupamaa and the newlyweds decide to borrow an orphan Anu from Mumbai's orphanage. Soon Anuj's cousin Ankush arrives with his wife Barkha while their children Sara and Adhik meet Samar and Pakhi respectively. Later it's revealed that Barkha pressures Ankush to demand a share in the Kapadia Empire and uses Adhik as her puppet for this  As Shahs and Kapadias meet at the new Kapadia Mansion for the housewarming party, differences arise due to their class dissimilarity between Vanraj, Barkha, and Ankush's egos while Samar- Sara and Pakhi- Adhik start becoming friends with each other. At Kinjal's baby shower, it's revealed that Pakhi and Adhik are having an affair and Vanraj tries to control Pakhi which makes her rebellious. Meanwhile, Sara determines to expose Adhik to being a playboy and his  once affairs in the USA in front of Anupamaa. Soon Anuj comes to know about Ankush and Barkha's bankruptcy and their ploy to get the Kapadia Empire and gets  good to foster Anu with Anupamaa. Samar, Pakhi initially feels jealous but eventually accepts her as their sister while Paritosh and Kinjal get  upset about their  future child. Later problems start  adding  as Pakhi and Adhik keep meeting  intimately by  lodging college and Barkha turns Pakhi rebellious against her parents by offering her a luxurious lifestyle. Anupamaa vows to never return to Shah's house after Pakhi crosses all her limits to badly humiliate her while Sara moves back to the USA for her  farther studies. Soon Anupamaa and Anuj arrange a Mahamrityunjaya Paath for both families amidst which he and Vanraj meet with a deadly accident over a cliff and Vanraj is assumed to be responsible for it. Anuj falls into a coma and Kapadias start misbehaving with Anupamaa and slandering her for her soft nature towards Shahs and cleverly takes control over Kapadia Empire. still, Anuj comes back to consciousness and clarifies that the cliff accident was just an accident only and Vanraj tried to save him but they both fell off the cliff and banish Kapadias from Kapadia's business. Samar also reconciles with Vanraj after learning the truth and starts calling him" Papa" again. While Kapadia plots through hook and crook to regain Anuj's trust Kinjal delivers a baby girl. Later Rakhi catches Paritosh having an  adulterous affair with a girl named Sanjana. Soon Shahs organize a naming ceremony for Kinjal's baby and names her" Aarya" while Anupamaa learns about Paritosh'sextra-marital affair. Paritosh blackmails Anupamaa not to reveal his affair but she refuses to bend down recalling her own trauma and reveals it in front of the whole family post which Vanraj ousts Paritosh from Shah's house while Kinjal suffers depression and moves to Kapadia Mansion with Aarya. Later Vanraj brings back Paritosh to Shah's house in an  enraptured state after meeting Kinjal. Kinjal also returns to Shah's house as she didn't want to become a burden on Anupamaa and Anuj and decides to divorce Paritosh on the grounds of adultery and cheating and Rakhi reveals that Pramod too cheated upon her when she was pregnant with Kinjal which turned her into a ruthless woman. Later, Paritosh calls the Foster Care Officers to take back Anu and accuses Anupamaa and Anuj of not fulfilling their duties. However, seeing the maternal love and care of Anupamaa and Anuj for Anu andvice-versa they leave while Anuj slaps Paritosh after coming to know about his deeds.
